How Many Hours Have You Spent on Spotify? (Ever, Not Just This Year)

Every December, Wrapped gives you one big number: your minutes listened this year. Everyone posts it, everyone compares it, and then it's gone.

But what about every year put together? All the bus rides, study sessions, gym playlists and late nights since the day you made your account?

Spotify has never shown that number. Your data has it, down to the second.

Already have your Spotify ZIP? See your hours now. If not, here's how to get it.

Does Spotify show your total listening time?

Not for all time. Here's what you get in the app:

  • Wrapped shows your minutes listened for one year, and only from January 1 until around mid-November. Then next year starts from zero.
  • Listening stats (tap your profile picture) shows your top artists and songs from the past four weeks. Good for what you're into right now, not for a lifetime total.

Adding up old Wrapped screenshots doesn't work either: each one misses the end of the year, and you probably didn't save them all.

What does work is your Extended streaming history. It covers the lifetime of your account, and every play in it says exactly how long the song played. Add those up and you have your real total.

How to see your total Spotify listening time

1. Request your Extended streaming history

On your Spotify account privacy page, tick only Extended streaming history (untick Account data and Technical log information), press Request data and confirm the email. It usually arrives within a day or two. Our Spotify extended history guide has every step.

2. Upload the ZIP

Drop the ZIP on the Spotify import page without unzipping it. Free, no account, no Spotify login, and your file is read in your browser, never uploaded.

3. Read the top of your Overview

The first thing you see is Hours listened: your total, for all time. Under it: how many hours a day that works out to, and your total plays, artists, songs and albums.

On the demo, a made-up listener with eight years of history, it says 4,017 hours from 73,328 plays, about 1.4 hours a day. That's about 167 days of nonstop music. Divide your own total by 24 to get yours in days.

How your hours are counted

The number is only worth posting if you know what's in it:

  • Real time, not song length. Each play adds the time it actually played. Skip a song at 1:10 and it adds 1:10, not the full song.
  • Plays under 30 seconds are left out, the same line Spotify uses for Wrapped.
  • Music only. Podcasts are left out. Sleep and focus sounds (rain, white noise, focus tones) are too, unless you switch the Music only button at the top to All content.
  • Offline listening counts. Plays you made offline are in your file once your phone went back online.
  • The daily average counts every day, from your first play to your last, including the days you didn't listen at all.

Break your hours down

Which year was your biggest?

The years page gives every year its own total and compares it with the year before. Open one for that year's full review: top songs, artists and albums, and which months were busiest. The demo listener's biggest year was 2025, with 653 hours, 5% more than 2024.

Which artist took the most of your time?

Your top artists are ranked by plays, but there's a Time button that ranks them by hours instead. The two lists don't always agree. On the demo, Calvin Harris has more plays than Post Malone (2,651 versus 2,619), but Post Malone has more hours (150 versus 144), because those plays run longer on average.

The same button works for top songs and top albums, and every artist and song page shows its own listening time.

When do all those hours happen?

When you listen splits your time by hour of the day, weekday and month. It also shows:

  • Your peak hour and your busiest day of the week.
  • Day or night: how much of your listening happens between 9 PM and 3 AM.
  • Days with listening, and how long you listen on those days on average.
  • Your longest session, without a break of more than 30 minutes.
  • Your longest streak of listening days in a row.

On the demo: 2,762 days with listening, 1 h 27 min on an average listening day, a longest session of 3 h 17 min, and a 106-day streak.

Any stretch of time

The date button at the top (it starts on All time) changes the whole dashboard to the last 30 days, a single year or any dates you pick. Your hours for one semester, one summer, or the month an album dropped.

Why it won't match your Wrapped minutes

Pick a single year on mystats and you'll get close to that year's Wrapped, but not the exact same number:

  • The dates are different. Wrapped counts from January 1 to around mid-November. A full year on mystats includes the rest of November and December too.
  • What's left out. mystats leaves out podcasts, and sleep and focus sounds unless you switch to All content, as explained above.

Frequently asked questions

How do I see how many minutes I've listened to Spotify in total?

Spotify doesn't show an all-time total in the app. Request your Extended streaming history, upload it to mystats.music, and the Overview shows your hours listened for all time.

Can I see my minutes for one year?

Yes. Open that year on the years page, or pick it with the date button. Every year has its own total, including years Wrapped never covered in full.

Does it work on Apple Music?

Yes. Upload your Apple Music data and the Overview shows your total hours there too. Here's how to get your Apple Music history.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file is read in your browser and never uploaded. mystats keeps your stats in your own browser for 90 days so they open straight away next time, and you can forget them any time. See our privacy page.

Where can I see the rest of my stats?

Same upload: your all-time top songs and artists, the first song you ever played, where you listened, your artist storyline and more.
